Phantom Volume — Why You Pay for Air
The Smart Valve™ is installed after the meter. It helps keep entrained air compressed through the meter and moderates pressure and flow fluctuations. It does not remove air, treat water, replace a PRV, or guarantee unchanged pressure.

Smart Valve™ Technical Overview
Smart Valve™ is a patented passive mechanical device installed at the main commercial water supply line on the customer side of the water meter. It requires no electricity, no ongoing maintenance, and no operational changes from building management or tenants. Manufacturer materials describe the device as creating a controlled hydrostatic back-pressure zone designed to compress entrained air toward its true volume before it crosses the meter billing point. Actual pressure, flow, meter behavior, and project suitability depend on measured site conditions and site-specific review.
The planned installation shutdown is confirmed with the site. Later external adjustments can be made without a shutdown. Follow-up timing and reporting are agreed for each project. Smart Valve™ carries NSF/ANSI/CAN 61 and NSF/ANSI 372 certifications for materials and lead-free compliance.
Smart Valve™ is compatible with 99 percent of commercial water meters and is available in pipe sizes from 0.75 inches through 12 inches, covering the full range of commercial, industrial, and multifamily applications. For qualifying installations, written performance terms may be offered after assessment and contract confirmation. Those terms, including any remedy or review period, are project-specific.
Measurement methods and reporting vary by project. Review the published case study for its customer, period, method, and source rather than treating a general methodology as an independent audit or rebate qualification.
NSF certification addresses materials used in drinking-water systems; it is not medical approval, a treatment claim, or a savings audit. For a property-specific starting point, get a free estimate.
