The NYC Office of Technical Certification and Research (OTCR) evaluated the Flow Management Valve (FMV) and concluded it is an acceptable alternative to the NYC Construction Codes, based on testing performed by Texas A&M Engineering.

OTCR's evaluation of the Flow Management Valve (FMV) concluded it is an acceptable alternative to the code based on functionality and safety testing performed by Texas A&M Engineering.

Reported Test Findings

  • Flow testing recorded higher upstream pressure, lower downstream pressure, and lower volume recorded by the water meter.
  • Pressure-surge testing showed smaller upstream and downstream spikes and less recorded fluid volume.
  • Air-bubble testing recorded fewer bubbles in the system.
  • Air testing indicated lower air flow through the piping system and less associated meter reading.
  • Safety testing showed that the FMV tolerated and reduced the effects of water-pressure spikes.

Safe Drinking Water

Evaluated in accordance with NSF/ANSI 61 (Standards for Safe Drinking Water). The FMV test demonstrated compliance with safe drinking water standards.

Code Acceptance

Pursuant to AC 28-113.2.2, the valve complies with the intent of the code in quality, strength, effectiveness, durability, and safety.
